This story comes from Claire, who writes that she met a married guy from Ashley Madison (AM) but found out he works with her husband. They were both surprised I’m sure, but she decided to to meet him anyway!
Here is a lightly edited extract from our email exchange -
Your Faery Godmother of Adultery (YFGM) — How did you two meet?
Claire — We met on AM. I was nervous going on there, but had a username, of course, and didn’t have a public picture. I actually hit him up with a wink or favorite, and we got chatting. I like his profile write up! He was one of the first guys I started chatting with. AM was brand new to me and I didn’t know how easy it was to have men message, so I was still putting some work in then, lol
YFGM — Ok, how did you find out he worked with hub?
Claire — As we chatted and got to know each other, we both revealed we were married. It was never my intent to hide that from someone I was chatting with, I just didn’t want everyone on AM to know. I paint, and he was interested, so he asked to see some of my work. I put most of it on my Facebook, so I gave him my real name and he went and looked.
YFGM — How did he tell you?
Claire — It was a few hours, but then he came back to me with “I think I work with your husband.” I was surprised, and a little scared. A little after that, he asked for his name, and looked him up on their work directory. And that was that.
YFGM — Does he know your husband?
Claire — No, but he sees him. He says my husband works on the same floor, but in a different department. Actually, he said their cubicles are about 50' apart and that he sees my husband almost every day when they are in the office. Because of covid neither of them are in regularly, though.
YFGM — Ok, so after the initial chat and going back and forth, did you say anything?
Claire — I didn’t know what to say. My heart was racing and I was a little in shock! We continued talking though, and I asked him what he did, and it didn’t sound anything like what hub does. He showed me his Facebook, so I could check him out, too.
YFGM — What did you think?
Claire — I didn’t know what to think. Part of me was worried he’d confront my husband, and I didn’t want to ruin things at work for him. But another part of me was curious. I wanted to know more about him. We were both looking for a special friend.
YFGM — So, you started talking regularly?
Claire — Yes, we chatted pretty much every day. We would share articles or funny memes or just chat about our days. We’d exchange pictures, and heat things up. It was nice to have someone to talk to who was attracted to me.
YFGM — Men are funny about being with other men’s wives. Did he say anything about it?
Claire — No. He said he wanted to be a friend for me, and just see where it goes. At that time I thought having sex once would be enough, lol. We talked about being friends with benefits, but not being exclusive. So we can have someone in our lives who is cheering for us, and he’s been around the block, so helped me get into the game.
YFGM — Was he bothered that he knew your hub?
Claire — He said it was weird, but he liked me and wanted to get to know me better. I didn’t want him to accidentally meet hub, so we decided to play out of town. That was easy though, we already lived in different towns outside of a city, so we met in the city.
YFGM — Did he say if he was turned on at all by going out with you and knowing he would see your husband at work?
Claire — He said it made things more exciting for him. But told me that it was really not about my hub, but him and I. l agreed. We were doing this for ourselves.
YFGM — So, how did your first meet go?
Claire — We met for lunch and had a nice conversation. He was going to pay, but his business credit card didn’t work, so I had to pay, lol. He told me he had no reason to be in my town and couldn’t explain it, so couldn’t use his personal bank card.
YFGM — Why did you feel it was important to have a first meeting in public?
Claire — I wanted to make sure that he was interested in me for me, and not just because of some weird kink about working with hub. I didn’t want him using me because this was something on his bucket list or anything like that.
YFGM — So, did the two continue talking?
Claire — Yes, we continued talking. There was chemistry there. We kissed in my car after lunch. It was nice.
YFGM —Did the workplace situation with your hub ever come up again?
Claire —No, not really. It wasn’t a factor. This was for me. It really was just one of those weird coincidences, and nothing more.
YFGM — Did you have a second date? Were you more intimate?
Claire — Yes, we had a second date. We met at a day rate hotel. We both took the day off work. I called in sick. I was sick too — sick of not having the sex I needed, lol.

YFGM — And did things go well?
Claire — Yes, he brought snacks and water. We’d planned to spend four or five hours together. He thought of everything, really. Very sweet. The sex was great! When he went down on me, OMG! I’d never felt anything like that before. I came so much. He really knew what he was doing. At one point while I was giving him head, he reached out and put his hand on mine; I’ll never forget that. He held me afterwards after he came. We just lay there and he wrapped his arms around me. It was amazing. It was nice to have someone who understood what I was going through and knew what I needed. And he told me he loved my blowjob!!
YFGM — So he met your expectations?
Claire — He was great. Better than I expected, even. We still chat, but we haven’t met again. When I first started this, he was my first, and I’d told him that I just wanted to meet someone for sex once. He agreed to that and it was clear we wouldn’t carry on. I’ve since decided to keep cheating, so other than maybe a casual meet, we haven’t planned anything.
YFGM — So he was like a starter boyfriend? Helping you dip your toe in?
Claire — Yes, I’d say that’s a good way to put it. He was someone who helped me explore my sexuality outside of my marriage. Without him, I don’t think I would have been as comfortable with being physical with other men.
YFGM — So, do you think he served his purpose?
Claire — Yes
YFGM — And you’re still in touch?
Claire — Yes, we chat about my dates and the challenges cheating I have. He’s really a nice guy, but we live too far apart to have more than a casual thing.
